He has always been interested in all kinds of stuff, and tried out a variety of schools. But leaving none of them with a degree, REMI’s education has been at the school of life. He began his career as a selfmade man as a VTR operator with an Amsterdam postproduction house. After a while though, he felt he needed more creativity to keep him happy in his work. Therefore during evening hours he started to master the telecine, and immediately knew this is what he wanted. Learning the old fashioned way, he grew along with modern technology turning himself into a colourist who knows his art. Still, that’s not the only thing that makes him tick, since he has a fascination for photography, a love for the legendary Dutch singer Andre Hazes and is simply addicted to ramen (which he can eat every day). Although the people who know Remi from the days he was into football, would describe him by a whole other feature. Cause he was the guy who once gave the famous Edgar Davids a panna.

RUBEN grew up with a mum who worked as a journalist and a dad who made documentaries. Nevertheless, computers and laptops were his first love. Hopelessly interested in how those worked, he earned his first degree in engineering. So even though he is an editor, the title engineering consultant suits him just as well. Eventually however, his inherited nature to make images move creeped up to the surface. And whether he liked it or not, it lit a fire that couldn’t be extinguished. The day Ruben found out that editing films is actually a profession with which one can earn a living, was therefore a happy one. He immediately enrolled at the Netherlands Film Academy, to graduate in 2011. With one need satisfied, another popped up: the desire to make films or documentaries that inspire to think about life. He likes movies that matter and hopes that with every cut that he creates he contributes to making this world a better place. Being pretty good at that, doesn’t mean he is flawless. He indeed definitely has a big flaw, since he can’t possibly look ahead in time. Even one day further than today things start to get blurry. Then again, isn’t the now just the perfect place to be?
